With an intention to serve the needy ailing people of the society and to promote the proven ancient Indian system of medicine, Ayurveda, Dakshina Bharat Hindi Prachar Sabha, Dharwad, established Ayurvedic Medical college and hospital in the name of late Shri C.B.Guttal. Shri C.B.Guttal Ayurvedic Medical College and Hospital, Dharwad got permissions of Government of Karnataka and Department of Ayush, New Delhi to provide the BAMS(Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery) course in the year 2004, with an intake capacity of 50 students per year.
Shri C.B.Guttal Ayurvedic Medical College and Hospital along with an Herbal garden is operational on a exclusive 14 acres campus. The campus is conveniently located on Pune-Bangalore national Highway (NH4) at Garag cross in Mummigatti, Dharwad. The campus is situated near Karnataka High court premises and well connected to Dharwad city. College is equipped with well developed classrooms, laboratory facilities, qualified faculty, latest medical and scientific instruments, library and auditorium. Institute also has hostel facilities for both male and female students.
The institute has a vision to recognize the health needs of the community, carry out professional obligations ethically and equitably while complying with National Health policies. Thus enabling the mankind to live the full span of life in peaceful, purposeful, moral, ethical and physically healthy conditions. All these are possible through our motto - Right for rightful health sciences education.

Dr. Hombal was born on 03-12-1971. He completed his BAMS degree in 1995 and M.D. (Ayu) in 2002 with specialisation in Kaya Chikitsa.In his 18 years of career as a doctor, he has extensively practised and worked in the field of Ayurveda. He has worked in various institutes as lecturer, Asst. Professor and principal before joining Shri C.B. Guttal Ayurvedic Medical college in 2004. He was promoted as principal and took over administrative charges of the college in 2012.
With his dynamic personality and leadership qualities he has transformed the functioning of the college and has worked hard to place the institute among top-ranked colleges in Karnataka. While upholding the proven ancient and traditional practices of Ayurveda, he is keen in embracing latest available technologies and equipments for the college and hospital. He maintains an open office environment and is always available for students and faculty alike.
